Lottery implications for Fever in 2024 WNBA Draft
Missing out on No. 1 pick not the end of world for lottery teams
Indiana Fever land top pick in draft lottery, expected to select Caitlin Clark
For the five lottery teams who didn't land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, missing out on the top prospect isn't necessarily a death sentence. While the Indiana Fever are the heavy favorites to select Iowa star Caitlin Clark with the top pick, there are plenty of other talented players available who could make an immediate impact in the WNBA.
The Fever are in a great position to add a franchise-changing player in Clark, who is widely considered to be the best prospect in the draft. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game for the Hawkeyes last season. She is a dynamic scorer with a great all-around game.
However, there are other talented players available in the draft who could make a big impact for the other lottery teams. Here are a few players who could be available when the Fever are on the clock at No. 2:
- Aaliyah Boston, South Carolina: The 6-foot-5 center is a two-time National Player of the Year and a three-time All-American. She is a dominant force in the paint and would be a great addition to any team.
- Cameron Brink, Stanford: The 6-foot-4 forward is another talented post player who could make an immediate impact in the WNBA. She is a great rebounder and shot-blocker, and she can also score in the paint.
- Charli Collier, Texas: The 6-foot-5 forward is a versatile player who can score inside and out. She is also a good rebounder and passer.
The 2024 WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 10, 2024. The Fever will have a chance to add a talented player to their roster with the No. 2 overall pick, and they could be in a position to make a run at the WNBA championship next season.
