Karl-Anthony Towns Agrees to a $224 Million Contract Extension
Dominican-American Basketball Star Extends Stay with Timberwolves
Towns, also known as KAT, is a 7-foot, 248-pound center who has been a key player for the Timberwolves since being drafted first overall in 2015.
Born on November 15, 1995, Towns has quickly become one of the most promising young players in the NBA. He has been named an All-Star three times and has led the Timberwolves to the playoffs twice.
Towns' new contract extension will keep him in Minnesota through the 2027-28 season. The four-year, $224 million deal is the largest contract in Timberwolves history.
Towns' agent, Jessica Holtz, said that the extension is a sign of his commitment to the Timberwolves and the city of Minneapolis.
"Karl loves playing in Minnesota and he believes in the direction the team is headed," Holtz said.
Towns is averaging 24.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season. He is one of the most versatile players in the NBA and is capable of scoring inside and out.
The Timberwolves are currently in seventh place in the Western Conference with a 29-29 record. They are hoping to make a push for the playoffs with Towns leading the way.
