Director Reassures Fans Despite Emphysema Diagnosis

Lynch, who has been open about his smoking-related health problems, says he will continue to work as long as he can.

David Lynch has told fans he has no plans to retire despite suffering from emphysema. The filmmaker, who is known for his groundbreaking work on the television series "Twin Peaks" and the films "Mulholland Drive" and "The Elephant Man," told The New York Times that he has been diagnosed with the lung disease, but that he is determined to keep working.

"I have emphysema from my many years of smoking," Lynch said. "But I'm not going to let it stop me from doing what I love. I'm going to keep making films as long as I can."

Lynch's diagnosis comes as a surprise to many, as he has rarely spoken about his health problems in the past. However, he has been a smoker for many years, and he has admitted that he has struggled with addiction.

Despite his health problems, Lynch remains optimistic about the future. He is currently working on a new film, and he is also planning to release a book of his paintings.

"I'm not going to let emphysema get me down," Lynch said. "I'm going to keep living my life to the fullest."
